Introduction

In the journey of professional growth—and indeed, life—adversity is inevitable. The difference between those who stall and those who soar often comes down to a single, internal question

In the face of adversity, true leadership isn’t about avoiding the storm; it’s about learning to dance in the rain. This week, we are diving deep into the power of mindset and how a simple shift in language can transform a crisis into a comeback.

The Power of “Try Me!”

During our recent Expert Facilitators Training, Dr. Lanette shared a powerful perspective that resonated deeply with everyone in the room. She stated:

“In tough times, I don’t say ‘Why me?’ I say ‘Try me!'”

This is not just a motivational quote; it is a core principle of resilience. “Why me?” is a question rooted in victimhood. It looks for someone to blame or seeks to understand an unfair punishment. Conversely, “Try me!” is a declaration of war against despair. It is a challenge issued to the universe that says, “I am ready for this. I am stronger than this obstacle.”

Building a Network of Resilient Educators

This transformative mindset is now being instilled in our Expert Trainers. As part of the Leaders in Teaching Program, in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, Luigi Giussani Foundation (LGF), British Council, Edukans Uganda, and VVOB, these leaders are being equipped to cascade this knowledge to educators across the network.

They will be guiding others to harness their potential by learning to:

  • 🔹 Discover Your Career Model: Understanding the unique path that fits your strengths.
  • 🔹 Unlock the Animal Wisdom: Tapping into innate instincts for survival and leadership.
  • 🔹 Ignite Your Employability: Taking proactive steps to become indispensable in a changing world.

We are building a network of educators who rely on inner strength over physical force. In a world that often feels chaotic, the ability to remain mentally tough is the ultimate superpower.

Acting As If Failure is Impossible

As Charles Kettering wisely said, “You have to act as if it is impossible to fail.”

This doesn’t mean ignoring reality or pretending obstacles don’t exist. It means adopting a posture of confidence. When you act as if failure is impossible, you unlock the strength required to find solutions you didn’t know existed. You move from a place of fear to a place of action.

The Choice is Yours

We all face tough times. We all have moments where we feel the weight of the world. But in that moment, you have a choice.

Are you going to crumble under pressure and ask, “Why me?”
Or are you going to stand up straight, look the challenge in the eye, and say, “Try me!”
